The Precision Strike Missile replaces ATACMS as the Army's long-range surface-to-surface missile, fitting two rounds per launcher cell in HIMARS and M270 (versus one ATACMS) and extending baseline range beyond 500 kilometers. Increment 1 entered low-rate production in 2023 after a competitive phase against Raytheon's DeepStrike proposal, which was withdrawn.
Follow-on increments add a multi-mode seeker for moving maritime and land targets (Increment 2), enhanced lethality (Increment 3), and a significant range extension toward the 1,000-kilometer class (Increment 4). PrSM is a central capability for the Army's Multi-Domain Task Forces and Marine Littoral Regiments in the Indo-Pacific.
