The MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System is a large short-range ballistic missile fired from the M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS launcher families. Each launcher cell holds one ATACMS round in place of six GMLRS, with a range of roughly 300 kilometers and a unitary warhead in current Block IVA / M57 variants.
ATACMS was first employed in combat during Desert Storm and returned to prominence with Ukrainian employment against Russian logistics and airfields from 2023 onward. The Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) is its direct replacement, offering longer range and the ability to carry two missiles per launcher cell.
