The MIM-104 Patriot is a mobile surface-to-air missile system defending against aircraft, cruise missiles, and tactical ballistic missiles. The current PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptor uses hit-to-kill guidance to destroy threats through body-to-body impact rather than proximity detonation.
Patriot has been central to the defense of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure since 2023 and to regional defense in the Middle East and East Asia. Global demand has outstripped production, driving multi-year production increases at both Raytheon and Lockheed Martin.
