The AN/SPY-6 is the U.S. Navy's next-generation shipboard air and missile defense radar, providing an order-of-magnitude increase in sensitivity over the legacy SPY-1D aboard Arleigh Burke-class destroyers. The scalable gallium-nitride array supports versions from smaller amphibious ships through the DDG Flight III destroyers.
First fielded on USS Jack H. Lucas (DDG-125) in 2023, SPY-6 is central to the Navy's integrated air-and-missile-defense capability against advanced anti-ship cruise and ballistic missile threats.
