The AGM-158C Long Range Anti-Ship Missile is a stealthy, autonomous, anti-ship cruise missile derived from the JASSM-ER airframe. Where JASSM relies on GPS/INS and a preplanned route, LRASM carries a passive RF sensor and imaging infrared seeker that allow it to locate and classify ships within a target area while tolerating GPS-denied environments.
The missile is carried externally by the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and internally by the B-1B Lancer, and it will expand onto the P-8A Poseidon and F-35 over the decade. LRASM forms the long-range anti-ship backbone of the Pacific theater's distributed maritime operations concept, complementing the Maritime Strike Tomahawk at shorter altitudes.
