The AGM-158 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile is a low-observable, turbofan-powered cruise missile that allows non-stealth strike aircraft such as the B-52H, B-1B, and F-15E to engage defended targets from outside most engagement envelopes. The baseline JASSM has a range of roughly 370 kilometers; the Extended Range (ER) variant reaches beyond 1,000 kilometers, and the in-development JASSM-XR pushes past 1,600.
JASSM is produced at Lockheed Martin's Troy, Alabama facility and has been repeatedly surged to meet U.S. and allied demand following lessons from Ukraine and Middle East contingencies. It shares a common airframe family with the AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship variant.
