The Bell V-280 Valor is the Army's selection for the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program, intended to replace a significant portion of the UH-60 Black Hawk fleet beginning in the 2030s. The tiltrotor configuration delivers roughly twice the range and speed of a conventional helicopter, enabling operational reach that matches the Indo-Pacific theater.
Bell beat the Sikorsky-Boeing SB>1 Defiant X coaxial compound helicopter in the December 2022 source-selection decision. FLRAA is a cornerstone of Army aviation modernization alongside the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (since canceled), and will be manufactured in Amarillo, Texas with major systems suppliers across the U.S. industrial base.
