The V-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff and landing capability of a helicopter with the speed and range of a turboprop. It serves primarily as a medium-lift assault and logistics platform for the Marine Corps (MV-22B) and special-operations forces (CV-22B).
The Navy variant CMV-22B replaced the C-2A Greyhound in the carrier onboard delivery role in the 2020s. The fleet has endured multiple operational pauses to address mechanical and clutch-related issues, most recently in 2023–24.
