The U.S. Army purchased two Iron Dome batteries from Israeli manufacturer Rafael in 2020 as an interim cruise-missile defense capability pending the fielding of IFPC Increment 2. Each battery couples an EL/M-2084 multi-mission radar with launchers of Tamir interceptors and has been operated alongside Patriot and THAAD in integrated air defense exercises.
Although initial plans considered deploying the systems to Guam, technical integration with the Army's Integrated Battle Command System proved challenging, and the batteries have primarily supported test, training, and backfill roles. The Tamir interceptor from these systems also forms a core part of the IFPC Increment 2 magazine mix.
