The Advanced Battle Management System is the U.S. Air Force's contribution to the Department of War's Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) effort. Rather than a single platform, ABMS is a family of programs — including the DAF Battle Network, Cloud-Based Command and Control (CBC2), and the Digital Infrastructure Consortium — aimed at federating sensors, shooters, and decision-makers into a resilient data fabric.
Early iterations centered on recurring 'onramp' exercises that stressed cross-service data sharing and rapid target closure. The program has matured into a set of deliverable increments, with CBC2 already fielded at NORAD to detect cruise missile and small-UAS threats. ABMS exemplifies the modern DoW shift toward software-defined, architecture-first programs instead of single-point-solution platforms.
