Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP)

Definition

Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP, pronounced 'soup') is NASA's governmentwide IT products GWAC. Its current iteration, SEWP V, has more than 140 prime contractors across multiple groups, with a focus on IT hardware (servers, workstations, networking), peripherals, software licenses, cloud solutions, and associated services. SEWP orders are typically competed among all primes or a group subset via short RFQs. SEWP charges a 0.325% surcharge rather than a percentage fee, making it cost-competitive relative to other GWACs.

Why It Matters

For IT hardware and software resellers, a SEWP V prime position is essential. Federal IT dollars flow through SEWP at a rate second only to GSA Schedule. SEWP on-ramp cycles are infrequent, so SEWP VI on-ramp is a major strategic milestone for many resellers. SEWP task-order capture is ultra-fast: typical RFQ responses are 24–72 hours, which rewards firms with pre-built pricing templates, OEM relationships, and streamlined approval processes.
