Thunderdome is DISA's flagship Zero Trust network architecture, replacing legacy perimeter-based DoW network defenses with an identity- and attribute-driven model that assumes breach and continuously verifies every access. The effort integrates Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) components, software-defined WAN, application security stacks, and Comply-to-Connect endpoint policies.
Thunderdome supports DoW's Zero Trust Strategy and Target Reference Architecture, both of which set ambitious milestones for Zero Trust adoption across DoW by the late 2020s. The program is central to mitigating advanced persistent threats and insider-risk scenarios against the DoW Information Network (DoDIN).
