The T-7A Red Hawk is the U.S. Air Force's next-generation advanced jet trainer, replacing the 1960s-era T-38C Talon for training fighter and bomber pilots. Designed by Boeing with Saab as teammate, the aircraft uses extensive digital engineering, a modern cockpit representative of fifth-generation fighters, and embedded training capabilities.
The program has faced delays related to flight-control software, ejection-seat performance, and escape-system qualification, pushing initial operational capability into the latter half of the decade. Once fielded, the T-7A will train the next generations of F-22, F-35, F-15EX, B-21, and NGAD aircrew.
