The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle replaces a large portion of the Humvee fleet with a purpose-built platform offering substantially improved IED and mine protection, payload, and off-road mobility.
Originally produced by Oshkosh Defense under a $6.7B initial contract, JLTV Follow-On Low-Rate Initial Production was awarded to AM General in 2023 to sustain the program. Variants include the four-door General Purpose, the two-door Utility, and the Close Combat Weapon Carrier.
The JLTV provides the ground-mobility foundation for brigade combat teams, military police, and special-operations units where the Humvee was previously standard.
