The AGM-88 High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile and its modern AARGM and AARGM-ER variants are the primary U.S. weapons for suppression and destruction of enemy air defenses. The missile homes on emissions from enemy radar systems and, in the AARGM generation, adds a millimeter-wave terminal seeker and GPS/INS so the weapon can complete an engagement even if the targeted radar goes off the air.
The AGM-88G AARGM-ER developed by Northrop Grumman introduces an entirely new rocket motor and airframe that roughly doubles range over the legacy HARM, while fitting internally in the F-35A and F-35C weapons bays. HARM and AARGM have been supplied to Ukraine in large numbers and integrated onto MiG-29 and Su-27 aircraft in a remarkable cross-platform adaptation.
