The M320 is Heckler & Koch's single-shot 40mm grenade launcher that replaces the Vietnam-era M203 in U.S. Army service. It can be mounted beneath an M4 carbine or used as a standalone weapon with a folding stock, and its side-opening breech accommodates longer projectiles such as medium-velocity and programmable airburst rounds that the M203 could not accept.
The Marine Corps adopted a similar role with the Milkor-derived M32A1 multi-shot launcher, but the M320 remains the Army standard, issued at one per fire team. Its integrated iron sights, day-and-night laser, and ambidextrous trigger group modernized a weapon class that had seen little change for four decades.
