KC-46 Pegasus
KC-46AAerial — Fixed Wing
OEM: Boeing
First Produced: 2016
Status: Active
Role: Aerial refueling tanker
Primary Operator: U.S. Air Force
OEM Website: boeing.com
The KC-46 Pegasus is a Boeing 767-derived aerial refueling tanker replacing a portion of the KC-135 Stratotanker fleet. It carries up to 212,000 pounds of transferable fuel via boom and drogue, and can offload to receivers compatible with either system.
The program has been marred by issues with its Remote Vision System, fuel-boom stiffness, and cargo-floor deficiencies, though the aircraft has achieved limited operational capability and flown multiple combat deployments. A block upgrade (RVS 2.0) is intended to resolve legacy issues.
