Accessibility Statement
Last updated: September 29, 2026
Blacksmith AI wants Vulcan to be usable by everyone on your team, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification or high contrast. This statement says what we aim for, what we have checked so far, what we know is still missing, and how to reach us when something does not work for you.
1. What we aim for
Our target for Vulcan (vulcan.blacksmithai.net) and for this website is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We are not yet claiming conformance; this page is where the claim will be made when the checks below support it.
2. What is checked today
- An automated accessibility rule set (axe-core) runs over five of Vulcan's main screens: sign in, Search, the Library, and two Settings panes (Data controls, Security and login). On 29 September 2026 it found no violations in the rules it can judge.
- Every code change is linted with accessibility rules (jsx-a11y): an image without alt text or a control without a label fails the check before the change is merged.
- Menus, dialogs, selects and tabs are built on the Radix primitives, which carry keyboard operation and ARIA roles; Settings has a Keyboard shortcuts pane listing the app's shortcuts.
- Public pages (the Guide, Release notes, Terms and Privacy) offer a light, dark or system theme and a language choice.
3. Known gaps
- Colour contrast has not yet been measured. The automated check runs without a browser, which cannot judge contrast; a browser pass is the next step.
- A full keyboard-only and screen-reader walk of the app has not yet been done and recorded.
- The chat home screen, the Writer and Atlas Forge are not yet in the automated run.
- Some data-heavy screens (search results, the pursuit pipeline board) rely on drag and drop or dense tables; keyboard alternatives exist for the board but are not yet documented in the Guide.
- There is no VPAT or Accessibility Conformance Report yet. We will produce one when a customer procurement requires it, from the checks above.
4. If something does not work for you
Email info@blacksmithai.net with the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you use. We reply within three business days, and we treat an accessibility barrier that blocks a task as a bug to fix, not a request to file.
5. How this statement is maintained
The automated report is rerun whenever a main screen changes, and each run is kept as a dated file in our repository. This page is updated with the run's date and any change to the known gaps.
